Mark your Calendar for a week at Zephyr
Cove, Lake Tahoe. Recently refurbished Zephyr Cove campsites have views of Lake Tahoe and are a short
walk to Zephyr Cove Beach and restaurant. Our event will be the week following Labor Day with the crowds
gone and the weather almost always good. Lake Tahoe with a 86 mile shore line drive is considered to be
one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Zephyr Cove is only four miles from Stateline, South Lake
Tahoe with numerous restaurant, entertainment and gambling opportunities. Local attractions can be found
on the lakeshore drive and in Truckee, Reno, Carson City, Virginia City and Sacramento.
Planned events include a dinner cruise on the historic MS Dixie from Zephyr Cove
dock to Emerald Bay returning at sunset. There will be an additional private tour of the historic Thunderbird
Lodge built by the fabulously wealthy George Whitell in the 1930’s. The tour includes the lakeshore
estate as well as a trip through the 600’ underground tunnel leading to the card room, boathouse and one of a kind custom
built 55 foot mahogany yacht completed in 1939. The tour requires at least 15 attendees. More
information on this tour can be found at www.thunderbird lodge.org/tours.
Zephyr Cove has good RV sites with 50 amp hookups. Come camp with SoCal under the Ponderosa pines
and Sierra stars.
